World Book Day 2026

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are delighted to let you know that we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5^th March.  This is an opportunity to share the joy of reading and encourage a lifelong love of books in all of our children.  This year, children may dress up as a book character for the day if they wish, or alternatively, they can come in their own clothes and bring one of their favourite books with them.   The day will be packed with stories and activities around some of our favourite books.

As we have done in previous years, we will be holding a World Book Day competition.  This year, we are inviting children to take part in a ‘Story on a Paper Plate’ competition.  We would like pupils to choose a favourite book or story and recreate a scene, character or key moment from it on a paper plate. This could be through drawing, painting, collage or a small 3D design.  

Please ensure that your child’s name and class are clearly written on the back of the plate. All entries should be brought into school by Monday 2^nd March and the winners from each year group will be announced in our special World Book Day assembly.
